Itaim Paulista in São Paulo and Cazenga in Luanda, a Compared Observation

Abstract

Compared Observation that seeks to deepen the understanding of two poor neighborhoods, one in São Paulo, Brazil, and another in Luanda,
Angola. This article provides clarification of the forms of political and administrative division in those two cities and, in light of some references,
looks for characteristics in the observed districts that are clues to understand existing community structures, as well as reflecting on the size of a community and its relationship with the segmentation
of the territory. It starts with the premise that these urban areas are dynamic and legitimate social phenomena, putting apart the idea
sometimes adopted that they would be anomalies in the city. Identifies physical and dynamic characteristics of urban spaces observed, as well
as socio-economic and spatial segregation signals, seeking to contribute to the understanding of what is understood as its Culture of construction.
The procedures used here were the observation of the cartography and data, followed by
analyses in the light of texts on the construction of urban space.
