Abstract

Fire appears to be in the origins of the house and the idea of home, initially established as the center of the dwelling. Progressively has lost its importance, moving from the center to the side walls. In this sense, there is a path of the domesticated fire to retain at the approach of living spaces: over time the position of fire, as well as its functionality and meaning, were transformed. This search intends to develop the concept of fire as the center and symbol of the house, while founder of the domestic space and the beginning of dwelling, as well as a qualifying element of architectural space. The intention of making this concept one of theoretical exploration appears to contribute to the understanding and design of architectural project, within the contemporary context.
