Vilanova Artigas: drawing the nation

This article intends to investigate the nation’s theme in the work of Vilanova Artigas through its approach to the design, mainly addressed in his inaugural lecture at FAU in 1967. The importance of his work for the establishment of a São Paulo regional identity has been presented by various works that sought to define the school led by Artigas. Our goal is to present the rapport between the National project of development and the São Paulo School of architecture analyzing his paradigmatic work; the Design article and the sketches for the Architecture School FAU USP.
