Feasibility study of execution of sustainable retrofit in an executing building

Abstract

This study evaluated the feasibility of implementing sustainable strategies in a commercial building, aiming their environmental readjustment. The results could serve as incentive to sustainable retrofit avoiding demolitions and encouraging the reuse of existing buildings, contributing to decrease the environmental impact generated by constructions. It were simulated and analyzed the results which could be obtained with the inclusion of different strategies usually found in sustainable buildings, capable of reducing resource consumption and increase energy efficiency. Comparing the results, the investment and the “payback” time, it was possible to verify the feasibility of the proposal.
