Abstract

This paper proposes to investigate the influence of water in the architectural solutions adopted by the modern movement, specifically the plans drawn up by Le Corbusier in his American tour. These studies, the most daring proposal was prepared for the Rio de Janeiro, where he proposes a building six kilometers long and one hundred meter high their coverage had a freeway. This building-viaduct crosses the terrain of the hills following his ‘meander theorem’. With clear intention to replace slums and ensure a sea view, this way solving the housing problem and mobility in just one solution.
