Urban mobility and density: application of indicators in a case study in Barra Funda District, Sao Paulo

The research subject is the relationship among density, mixed-use and a more sustainable urban mobility. The intervention area comprises Barra Funda District underutilized areas, in Sao Paulo, in order to be considered as units of an integrated urban planning, with the Tiete River and the railway as structural axes. The research objective is to qualify and quantify this relationship between density and mixed use by applying concepts and indicators for urban mobility. The work was divided into four stages: theoretical basis and indicators survey, characterization of the mobility problem in São Paulo metropolitan area, analysis and synthesis, proposition and final considerations.
