Abstract

The purpose of this text is to demonstrate the relevance of the question about the essence of architecture. We will consider the problem from the architect’s point of view and from the inhabitant’s point of view. We will reason out the phe nomenon of architecture trying to approach its ontology. We will present and discuss several philosophers’ and writers’ extracts which address this question. Architecture is shown as the metamorphosis of space which allows man to be fully himself.
