Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of social property and its integration into urban growth in Mexico City. It distinguishes the mechanisms, agrarian actions, and quantifies the increase in population and housing as a gradual process that has characterized the expansion of urban areas in our country following the 1992 Agrarian Law reforms. The study reflects on whether these transformations are linked to guidelines emerging from international discussions and government agendas aimed at fostering development conditions in cities. With the support of tools such as Geographic Information Systems, literature review, statistical analysis, and fieldwork, the areas of growth associated with certain settlement patterns from the period of ejido allocation to the present were identified. The work provides rigorous information to be used not only in administrative actions but also in urban planning, which is essential for understanding metropolitan territorial management.
