Peer Review Process
Arq.urb observes the following criteria before starting the peer review process:
- priority to unpublished texts resulting from researches concluded in accordance with the Authors Guidelines;
- authors with higher degrees will be prioritized;
- priority to texts from different regions of Brazil and abroad.
The submitted papers are initially reviewed by the journal’s editor, who checks through a checklist whether the text complies with ethical guidelines, authors’ rules, plagiarism verification policy and publication template.
Sent papers are subjected to double-blind peer review comprised by reviewers who are members of the Editorial Committee and ad hoc reviewers. The reviewers indicate whether the paper will be accepted, accepted with mandatory corrections, or rejected for publication. The paper that is resubmitted to meet the suggestions of the accepted with mandatory corrections status will be forwarded to the reviewers for a new evaluation and, if necessary, the text may be submitted for evaluation by a third reviewer.
The corrections or modifications most commonly requested by the editorial team are of a formal, orthographic and grammatical nature.
Reviewed papers are forwarded to the authors, along with the reviews, preserving both reviewers’ and authors’ identities. The average time between submission and the first response is of eight weeks.
