Ethical Guidelines
The arq.urb’s code ethics aligns with the good editorial practices of Committee on Publication Ethics - COPE.
The papers are examined by the Editorial Team, who verifies whether they comply with the journal’s Focus and Scope, as well as the guidelines for the authors. Thus, it is committed to promoting integrity in academic research and publication ethics, adopting, for this purpose, the main COPE guidelines, described below:
- Misconduct allegations: publishers will carefully examine any allegations of misconduct communicated to them, caring to respond to the complainants and, if necessary, taking appropriate measures to restrain and correct infringements. In this sense, it is possible to resort to sharing information between editors-in-chief on more recurring cases, as well as referral guidelines for solving the problem.
- Authorship and contribution: the submission of papers is done through the registration of the author(s) who declare the authorship data, academic link and mini curriculum, as a form of academic and professional presentation. Authorship disputes will be carefully examined by the publishers, together with the Curatorial Committee, who will arbitrate the discussions, after the appropriate consultations and due clarifications, will promote eventual corrections. Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscripts and their content are original and that they have not been submitted to another journal. The authors of a submitted manuscript must have contributed to the development of the research. The respective author must ensure that all authors are informed about the editorial submission process. The content and opinions expressed in the publication are the sole responsibility of the authors.
- Complaints and appeals: The authors are informed about the editorial decision on the work after the end of the evaluation rounds and, if it is the case, they must express their desire to withdraw the work upon justifiable request, which must be sent to the journal by e-mail and analyzed by the editorial team. In cases of suspected misconduct and plagiarism, the editorial team will contact the respective author to obtain explanations with the deadline for return established by the publishers. The author's response will be analyzed by the Editorial Board, which will decide whether the work will advance in the editorial process, be amended by the authors or be rejected.
- Conflicts of interest: Editors and reviewers must not have a conflict of interest regarding neither the papers’ content nor their authors, during the editorial process. If there is a potential conflict of interest, the reviewer must immediately convey it to the editors, who will forward the paper to another reviewer.
- Intellectual property: authors who publish on urb agree with the terms of the Copyright Notice as part of the submission process, authorize the publication of the article in the journal and guarantee that the contribution is original and unpublished and is not being evaluated in another journal.
- Ethical supervision: the journal's Editorial Board is responsible for supervising compliance with these Ethical Guidelines and for following the scientific publication good practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE.
