Journal’s History
Founded in the second semester of 2008 by the Post-Graduation Program stricto sensu in Architecture and Urbanism of the Universidade São Judas Tadeu (PGAUR-USJT), arq.urb was initially an annual journal, turning into biannual in 2010 and four-monthly in 2016. Since 2012, the journal was included in Qualis of Capes (initially in stratum B4, reaching stratum B2 in 2015). Since 2015, there have been important changes in the composition of the Editorial Board, in order to diversify its members, including colleagues from foreign institutions. The journal also has a Curators’ Board, comprised by all the permanent professors of the Program, with the function of advising the editors’ work. Since 2017, in the last edition of each year, it started publishing a special thematic and bilingual issue (Portuguese/English) aiming to internationalize its production. As of 2019, the editorial management project of arq.urb started using the electronic editing system OJS (Open Journal System), developed by the PKP (Public Knowledge Project), a tool that promotes improvements in the management of the editorial process and navigability conditions.
