Bicycle Level of Service (BLOS) evaluations deal with road performance and the multiple safety and comfort conditions for cyclists. The aim of this article is to present the survey and systematization of methodological characteristics and indicators of cycling suitability that involve evaluations through BLOS models. The methodological procedures were carried out based on a systematic literature review, considering the definition of databases, screening criteria, inclusion and synthesis, comprising 42 reference models, dated between 1987 and 2021. The results present a conceptual and methodological overview, characterizing the types of measures, analyzes, classifications, perception approaches, prominent indicators and discussion. Bicycle suitability is the main BLOS measure for road segments and intersections. The volume of motorized vehicles was the most significant negative-effect variable, while the width of the outer lane was the most significant positive-effect variable for BLOS. Potential BLOS applications include data collection, design, operational analysis, accident prediction, participatory processes, among others. In this context, a greater understanding of BLOS methods and their contributions to cycle planning is sought.
