Abstract

The complexity of the profession of architect and urban planner is diverse, therefore, their graduation needs to be multidisciplinary. It is not possible to separate the competences of the professional in the area of geoinformation, as it is essential to quickly and simply understand the spatial patterns of space. Therefore, this work seeks to make a critical analysis of the process of formation of the architect and urban planner in the face of geoinformational knowledge and its technologies, given the current complexities of the area. Using quantitative methods for the analysis of curriculum and qualitative methods for the understanding of geoinformation and its technologies in the course conclusion works, it was possible to understand how the panorama of the area is in the formation of the architect and urban planner in Brazil. It was possible to identify the low obligatoriness of the disciplines of the area that are reflected in the fragility of the spatial analyses, when carried out, in the pre-project phase. Thus, the work points to the importance of a review of the geoinformational and geotechnological framework for the curricula of architects and urban planners that best contribute and facilitate diagnostic reading and design stages.
